Casa Balam y T'ul (Jaguar and Rabbit House) is a bright gem of a home--just a minute's walk from our beautiful beach and a 5-minute walk to town. This villa may be rented as a 2-bedroom/4 bath or 3-bedroom/5/bath home. There is also a "bonus bunkroom" for older children or teenagers in a separate ground-floor area with its own bath.

On the ground floor is the convenient and cozy living room-kitchen-dining area. There are many lovely terraces, patios, and garden areas for relaxing and socializing. Amenities include satellite TV, with DVD or VCR, fully equipped kitchen--including microwave, blender, coffee maker and toaster oven, and laundry room with washer/dryer. All rooms are cooled by ceiling fans and the ocean breeze; two bedrooms have air-conditioning. (See below for bedroom details and pictures.)

	The living-dining-kitchen area features comfortable built-in sofas and entertainment center. It is painted in sunset and sherbet tones and decorated with Mexican art and crafts. Sliding glass doors open to the patio-entry with waterfall on one side of the room and to the pool and covered patio on the other.
	The charming kitchen/dining area has all the amenities you could want: full-size stove and fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender and water cooler.  Table seats 4-6.

On the second floor, there are two bedrooms (one king, one queen), each with private bath and terrace. The third floor has a spacious terrace with a gorgeous view of the Caribbean and the island of Cozumel. Our third-floor bedroom, the Aloha Suite, is available to rent at an additional charge. It has a tropical feel with a beautiful mermaid-motif stained glass window and palapa-covered bath with large jacuzzi tub and separate shower. From your queen bed, you have a sweeping view of the sunrise over the sea.

	The master suite (known as "Conejito" or the "Bunny Room") features a spacious bedroom (king bed) with stained glass windows and overlooks the pool. You can see the ocean from the spacious terrace. The tiled bathroom has a large tub and shower.
	The second bedroom ("Artista" or the "Artist's Room") has a high church-like ceiling and colored glass window. It is painted in cheerful colors and decorated with paintings and prints. "Artista" has a queen bed and is cooled by both ceiling fan and air-conditioning. It has a beautiful tiled bathroom with shower (at right).
	If you rent Casa Balam as a 3-bedroom villa, you will enjoy the breezes and Caribbean view from the third-floor "Aloha Suite."  This light-filled room has a whimsical private bath with palapa roof, shower and jacuzzi tub. There is also a private balcony and a large terrace for viewing the sunset.
	From the rooftop terrace you can see the blue Caribbean, Cozumel Island and beyond.

 

Drinking water, bed linens, towels, iron and ironing board, beach towels, beach chairs and cooler are provided. Maid service is provided three days a week or more by arrangement. Our attentive manger speaks English; cooking and child care are also available.

The house has a jewel-like swimming pool which is shared with our neighboring home, Casa Colel Luna (when it is rented). Designed as a cenote (ceh-NO-tay)--a natural freshwater pool, it features two waterfalls and two shallow play pools. There is a separate bathroom serving the outdoor areas as well as an outdoor shower. The yard is planted with lush tropical trees and shrubs, including hibiscus, frangi-pani (plumeria), birds of paradise, and a variety of palms.
