Michelle M. Oregon: This
is my second stay at Casa Colel Luna. This time three couples
stayed there and with the design of the house it was possible
to eat meals together as well as to have private reading and siesta
time. The home is very clean and well maintained. Every room has
a lovely open air balcony that gives you even more room in your
bedroom area. The villa is lovely both inside and out. The location
is ideal for walking into town, jogging, and swimming. In town
it is easy to change money, rent a car and arrange for tours and
trips even if you have no knowledge of Spanish. We were out early
and up late eating at restaurants and walking on the beach and
we always felt safe. Everything is in excellent shape inside the
house and it was always filled with fresh flowers. Whenever we
dealt with the owners they were helpful and very pleasant. Highly
recommended for a stay, do stay as long as possible! We are planning
on returning for more stays. Jason

I stayed in Casa Colel Luna for a week in January. The house is
comfortable, spacious and well-maintained. The house is designed
to benefit from the wonderful sea breeze, especially on the second
and third floors. The location of the house is practically ideal.
Even though it's in Playacar, it's still very close to town (it's
an easy ten minute stroll to the pier where the ferry to and from
Cozumel docks). It's also only a couple of minutes away from a
beautiful, uncrowded beach. The overseer of the house was friendly,
accessible and extremely helpful. The maid cleaned the house three
times during our stay, and she left the house completely spotless.
I have been to Playa del Carmen twice before, and I stayed in
hotels both times. Staying at Casa Colel Luna was better in every
way than staying in a hotel.

Oh my, I hope you decide to make that trip to Playa del Carmen
and arrange to stay at Casa Colel Luna. You will be so happy
that you did! The house is wonderfully spacious, open and
comfortable. You have all the conveniences of being in a home,
rather than the formality of hotel life to look forward to.
The house is casual and "user friendly," and on
the third level you can see the ocean and catch a glimpse
of Cozumel across the way. There are 5 bedrooms, 5 baths,
hammocks to swing in (or doze in!), and the on site caretaker
of the property speaks fluent English and is quickly responsive
to any request you may feel you need to make of her. It is
a pleasant ten minute walk to town, where you can enjoy shopping
and many restaurants and then more shopping on your way home.
I had a great sense of personal safety in these evening walks,
as the Mayan people are cordial and welcoming to tourists.
You can also walk to the ferry dock, if you wish to take a
day trip over to Cozumel. As well, it is a matter of only
a few minutes walk to reach the beach and a refreshing dip
in the Caribbean. The beach may have a dozen people on it--but
that would be a crowd! When you return a bit hot from your
time on the beach, you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the natural
rock "cenote style" pool. Our group made a habit
of having gin and tonics each day around 5 before deciding
which of the many restaurants in town would be the best for
dinner that evening.
In addition to the amenities of the house, you will be within
easy reach of many of the local attractions (the water park
at Xcaret, the lagoons at Xel Ha (wonderful snorkeling there),
the ruins at Tulum just to name a few) and there is only one
major highway to gain access to these, so getting lost isn't
an option. I don't know what more I can say, except that the
Mendeses give good value for the money. I hope you enjoy your
vacation on the Riviera Maya. I know we always do!

My friends and I have stayed at Colel Luna two years in a row.
Each year we enjoyed the house with fresh breezes flowing through
the many windows and patios. The views from each room is different
and there is an easy walk to the beach that is private and beautiful.
The house is comfortable and very functional for a small family
or a group of active adults. It is walking distance to shopping,
restaurants and nightlife (if you choose). It is accessible to
many activities - a short trip to many different snorkeling sites,
to Mayan Ruins and only a 45-minute ferry ride to Cozumel. It
is a house with a lot of charm and warmth that will be enjoyed
by many satisfied guests.
